There has been some talk lately about “hydrogen fuel cells” for motor vehicles. Are these for internal combustion engines or electric vehicles? Either way, do they exist and will people be able to drive such vehicles in the future?

Hydrogen as a fuel can be used in an internal combustion engine (ICE). An advantage of hydrogen-fuelled ICEs is that except for very small quantities of nitrogen oxides, emissions from these engines are totally free from other pollutants.
