From extreme dieting at 16 to self-care at 41: How model-actress Sheila Sim has learnt to embrace her body through holistic wellness
The London Weight Management ambassador shares how she found a gentler, more sustainable approach to her physical and mental well-being as a working mother of two
Sheila Sim once survived on a single green apple a day as a 16-year-old model. Now a mother of two, she has found a more sustainable way to care for her body.

One green apple. That was all that artiste Sheila Sim ate every day for two weeks when she was starting out as a model at 16.
Even though she stood at 1.73m tall and weighed 47kg, there were occasions when she would tuck into a can of corn for dinner.
“Back then, being skinny was considered beautiful. I was young and ignorant, and I took extreme dieting to another level. I was pale, had no energy and felt terrible! I almost fainted too.”
Now that she is a mother to five-year-old Layla and three-year-old Skyla, she would never encourage her daughters to go on an extreme diet. “After I stopped my extreme diets, my body put back the weight quickly and I got more bloated.”
For Sim, looking and feeling good is no longer about dieting, but about a sustainable routine of healthy eating, exercise and self-care.

When her two kids were born, Sim took time off work for three years to focus on parenthood. Her return to the screen through Emerald Hill – The Little Nyonya Story in 2025 marked a point where she began to pay more attention to her body and personal well-being.
Staying active has always been a part of the 41-year-old’s life since she was in primary school when she would take part in netball games and swim. When she was pregnant with her older daughter Layla, she would swim and do yoga every other day.
“As a mother, I was more concerned about retaining my muscle instead of losing weight, so eating balanced meals, exercising and hydrating more is important to me,” says Sim, who prefers snacking on whole foods like edamame and sunflower seeds.
But after giving birth the second time, she gained 8kg. She realised that it became harder to lose the weight she had gained. She also shares that she has always had cellulite on her legs and bottom, which even an exercise regimen could not help.
This was when Sim set out to find expert help as well as a self-care routine that could complement her dietary and fitness habits, and fit seamlessly into her lifestyle.

Before working with slimming and wellness chain London Weight Management, Sim confessed that she had never stepped into a slimming centre or felt the need to. “I have always thought that if you want to lose weight, it means dieting.”
Self-care can be quick, pain-free and relaxing
At London Weight Management, she was drawn to how efficient its 30-minute ezSlim treatments were, which is attractive to a working mother like herself.
ezSlim is the award-winning centre’s signature slimming treatment, designed to target specific areas of concern. It uses advanced radio frequency combined with ampoules to break down stubborn fat by releasing triglycerides, which may help fuel fat-burning rate in just 30 minutes. There are three ampoule formulae to choose from: ezCleanse to help reduce bloat and water retention, ezBoost to help stimulate fat burning and metabolism, and ezFirm to help sculpt body contours and enhance skin elasticity. Every ezSlim treatment session is customised with these ampoules based on what the customer needs at that very session. So, it may deliver slimming results even in areas that exercising may not have an effect on.
At Sim’s first session, the consultant conducted a body fat analysis before sitting down to discuss her problem areas and customising a targeted treatment.

Sim says: “As they would measure me before and after each treatment, I noticed there was a loss in terms of centimetres after every session.” After 10 sessions, she had achieved a total loss of 3kg and 31.5cm.
Her sessions would include the BioDetox treatment, which she found herself looking forward to.
“It was like doing a sauna – I perspired so much and felt so much lighter afterwards. It also made me more aware of how much water I was retaining in my body.”
She treats these sessions at London Weight Management as part of her wellness routine, combining it with healthy eating and regular exercise for long-term slimming and wellness results.

“I also feel that I have got stronger and I enjoy my body now. I no longer compare it to that of my 16-year-old self, which was unhealthy. I have embraced my body the last few years after giving birth as the female body is an amazing one and I have learnt not to judge it but to appreciate it more.”
