SINGAPORE - As a child, mechanical engineer Jason Blaise D'Souza used to take part in drama performances and recitals in school. All was well until he started stammering when he was eight years old.

A simple question such as "What is your name?" would trigger fear in him because he could not even pronounce his name properly.
