SINGAPORE – In recent months, Mr Dean Singh and his partner, Ms Audrey Lean, have been using the laundromat in their Bidadari neighbourhood up to three times a week.

As Singapore’s weather got seasonally wetter – typically from December to March – the couple, who are in their 40s, had to dry their clothes more frequently.
