Cafe owners say they are drawn to the heartland because of friendlier rentals, and because there is a demand for good coffee.

SINGAPORE - Caffeine is coursing through the heartland, with a slew of new cafes opening up in HDB estates or near them.
They are popping up in void decks, community clubs, town centres and their mostly clean and sleek exteriors stand out from the usual neighbourhood businesses.
