SINGAPORE – A surge in restaurant and cafe chains from China made the biggest impact among all the overseas brands that debuted in Singapore’s casual dining scene. 

Yes, there were queues for Japan’s famed doughnut chain Mister Donut and Canada’s coffee chain Tim Hortons, but it was the entrance of coffee chain Luckin Coffee that made the biggest splash with its aggressive expansion and sharp discounting.
