Arguably one of the bigger losers out of the summer’s Coldplay kiss-cam affair was Ms Kristin Cabot, with the procession of her losing her lover-boss, then her job at tech firm Astronomer, being played out in front of practically the whole world.

It has since emerged that she was already separated from her husband during the viral moment in July when she was caught on camera at the British rock band’s concert in Massachusetts, US, canoodling with Mr Andy Byron, who has since left Astronomer and patched things up with his wife.

“Their decision to divorce was already under way prior to that evening,” said a spokeswoman for Mr Andrew Cabot, chief executive of distillery Privateer Rum.

“Now that the divorce filing is public, Andrew hopes this provides respectful closure to speculation and allows his family the privacy they have always valued.”

He has two kids from a previous marriage; he and Ms Cabot do not share children.

The couple “were privately and amicably separated several weeks before the Coldplay concert”, the spokeswoman told People magazine on Sept 8.

Ms Cabot later filed for divorce at a New Hampshire court on Aug 13, US media reported.

After the kiss-cam moment that launched Ms Cabot and Mr Byron into the global consciousness, both were placed on leave at Astronomer before subsequently resigning.

“Either they are having an affair or they are just very shy,” quipped Coldplay singer Chris Martin, after Ms Cabot appeared to be in shock before covering her face while Mr Byron ducked out of the camera’s view.

Mr Byron was CEO at Astronomer while Ms Cabot was chief people officer at the American data firm.

After the incident, Astronomer hired American actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who happens to be Martin’s ex-wife, for a commercial.
