TV & Film Picks: Head Over Heels, Law And The City, Wes Ander-thon

Head Over Heels (PG13)

Starring Cho Yi-hyun and Choo Young-woo, this 12-episode romcom offers a fresh spin on youth romance with its supernatural elements. 

Cho plays Seong-a, a high school student by day and a powerful shaman by night. During one of her consultations, she falls head over heels for handsome classmate Gyeong-u (Choo), who is doomed to die in 21 days. Seong-a sets out to save her first love by becoming his secret human talisman.

Rising K-actors Cho and Choo shine in their roles, and it helps that the duo make a cute couple, thanks to their good looks and magnetic chemistry.

The one gripe is that while Cho, 25, pulls off the adorable, plucky high-schooler look well, Choo, 26, looks too mature to be an 18-year-old.

Still, the story’s unique blend of romance, horror and comedy, and strong supporting cast make this an easy watch.

Law And The City

K-drama star Lee Jong-suk returns to the small screen after a three-year absence in this slice-of-life drama about five lawyers.

The 12-episode series also stars Moon Ga-young of True Beauty (2020 to 2021) fame and Kang You-seok, who was recently seen in Resident Playlist (2025).

Lee is no stranger to playing a legal eagle, having done that in the hit shows While You Were Sleeping (2017) and Big Mouth (2022). Unlike the louder characters in those shows, his role in Law And The City is that of a competent but jaded lawyer. 

The key element here is the lawyers meeting over meals, from lunches to dinners, as they try out the city’s best restaurants and cafes while sharing their daily grind and woes. 

One of them runs a restaurant blog called Lawyer’s Table, so expect plenty of close-ups of their meals and delicious-looking food.

Rediscover some of acclaimed film-maker Wes Anderson’s beloved works at The Projector at Cineleisure.

The five films include The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), which gave Anderson his first Oscar nomination for best screenplay and stars the late Gene Hackman; and The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou (2004), featuring Bill Murray as the titular oceanographer who wants to exact revenge on a shark that killed his partner.

The Darjeeling Limited (2007), starring Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman, is about three brothers who travel across India in an attempt to bond with one another.

Anderson’s whimsical take on Roald Dahl’s classic story Fantastic Mr Fox, featuring the voices of George Clooney and Meryl Streep, gave the director his first best animated feature film Oscar nomination. 

No Anderson showcase is complete without the Oscar-winning The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), a colourful and quirky tale set in a popular European ski resort.
