SINGAPORE - For the longest time, home-grown singer-songwriter Marcus Lee avoided love because he felt he did not deserve it.

The 29-year-old worried about his romantic prospects because of the uncertain nature of his profession. He was also concerned about whether he would have enough time or energy to be a good partner to someone while chasing his music dreams.
