SINGAPORE – The day Aug 26 saw a fellowship of a different kind when Swifties across the globe zoomed in on one precious commodity: Taylor Swift’s engagement ring.

The American pop star’s

vintage-style rock

is undoubtedly the one ring that rules over all celebrity engagement rings of 2025 – minus the death and destruction Gollum’s prized possession caused in English writer J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord Of The Rings trilogy.

Following the news that American football player Travis Kelce, 36, had proposed to his sweetheart of two years, the unique jewellery on the 36-year-old singer’s ring finger immediately generated record-breaking searches.

According to American news site Page Six, quoting jewellery expert Laura Taylor of Lorel Diamonds, searches for Old Mine Cut diamonds rose by “almost 10,000 per cent overnight”.

American news CNBC reported that shares of Signet Jewelers, the world’s largest diamond jewellery retailer, spiked immediately following the engagement announcement – even though Swift’s bespoke ring was not from there.

Purchased instead from American jeweller Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry in New York, it features a cushion-cut Old Mine Cut diamond, rounded at the corners, and bezel-set in a hand-engraved gold band.

Fine jewellers estimated the rare diamond to be about seven to 10 carats, costing anywhere from US$250,000 (S$321,000) to US$500,000.

On Dec 9, renowned auction house Sotheby’s teamed up with Ms Lubeck to auction off a ring similar to Swift’s. Described as a “sister” ring, it featured a 5.14-carat cushion brilliant diamond ring bezel, set in an engraved platinum band. It received a winning bid of US$279,400 within 24 hours.

While Swifties are eagerly awaiting the wedding of 2026 – Swift and Kelce are reportedly planning to exchange vows on June 13the Instagram post of the romantic proposal in August, where the Kansas City Chiefs tight end dropped on his knee, remains Swift’s most viewed, with more than 37.6 million “likes”.

Other exquisite bling rings

Though Swift’s old-school bling rocked the world, other exquisite engagement rings from high-profile couplings deserve a mention.

Georgina Rodriguez and Cristiano Ronaldo have been in a relationship since 2016 and they have two daughters together.

When Spanish-Argentine model Georgina Rodriguez, 31, announced her engagement to Portuguese soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, 40, in an Instagram post on Aug 11, all eyes were on the mammoth rock on her ring finger.

Designed by Spanish jewellery house Damaso Martinez, the ring features three oval-cut diamonds in a trilogy design, symbolising the past, present and future.

The star of the ring is the jaw-dropping centre stone, which is estimated to measure more than 30 carats. The piece has an estimated value of over US$3 million, pocket change to the billionaire athlete who is the highest-paid soccer player in the world.

The couple have been in a relationship since 2016 and have two daughters, aged seven and two, together. Rodriguez is also the stepmother of his other three children.

Another noteworthy ring is American actress-singer Zendaya’s timeless cushion-cut sparkler set from British actor Tom Holland, 29.

Though there was no engagement news from the Spider-Man (2017 to 2021) couple, the ring made its official debut at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards in January.

Zendaya, 29, was spotted wearing the ring at Louis Vuitton’s Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2026 show in September.

The five-carat oval diamond is set in an east-west orientation instead of the traditional north-south setting, making the stone appear larger. The Georgian era-inspired ring is estimated to cost between US$280,000 and US$300,000.

All eyes were on Miley Cyrus’ ring finger when the American singer-actress, 33, stepped onto the red carpet with her partner of four years, musician Maxx Morando, 27, at the world premiere of Avatar: Fire And Ash in Los Angeles on Dec 1.

The singer of Fire And Ash’s theme song flashed a thick 14K gold cushion-cut diamond, east-west bezel-set ring. The diamond solitaire is said to be about four to five carats. Designed by Los Angeles-based jeweller Jacquie Aiche, the chunky bling is estimated to be worth up to US$450,000.
