SINGAPORE – It has been 22 years since they went away, but Norwegian pop duo M2M are back and coming to Singapore.

Formed in 1998 by childhood friends Marit Larsen and Marion Ravn, they will be performing at Gateway Theatre in Bukit Merah on May 11, 2025.

The Better Endings Tour marks the 25th anniversary of the group’s beloved debut album Shades Of Purple (2000), which included hits like Pretty Boy, Mirror Mirror, The Day You Went Away and Don’t Say You Love Me, and sold more than 1.5 million units worldwide.

Despite their early success, M2M were short-lived. Their second album, The Big Room (2001), did not perform as well commercially. The duo split up amicably in 2002.

Larsen, 41, and Ravn, 40, sent fans into a frenzy when they announced their reunion in September, posting a video of their acoustic rendition of The Day You Went Away on a newly created M2M Instagram account.

The clip was posted on Sunday, Sept 22, at 9.25am Oslo time, a nod to the song’s lyrics: “I remember date and time/September 22nd, Sunday, 25 after nine.”

Their manager then confirmed the reunion. Since then, the group have announced their first headline tour – they did not have one back when they were active in the early 2000s.

Besides Singapore, the tour will include legs in the Asian cities of Jakarta, Bangkok, Cebu, Davao and Manila. One of two Manila shows is already sold out. The singers will also play at a music festival in their home town of Oslo in June.

In a press statement, Ravn said there was never any question the tour would begin in Asia.

She said: “Asia was always the first choice. Some of our best memories are from there.”

Larsen added: “Making Shades Of Purple changed our lives forever, and playing these songs together again, in the same room, while rediscovering both our music and our friendship at the same time, is a particular kind of magic. It feels powerful, like a celebration.”
