My Perfect Weekend with comedienne-influencer Xixi Lim

Who: Singaporean comedienne-influencer Xixi Lim won her first Top 10 Most Popular Female Artiste trophy at Star Awards 2024.

The 37-year-old, a regular host of the YouTube comedy programme Outcasts, also starred in Channel 8 drama The Blockbusters (2024) as one of the leading actresses alongside Tay Ying and Kayly Loh.

The former child star from the 1990s appears in the second season of Say It Right!, a variety show which tests home-grown influencers on their grasp of Mandarin. The 10-episode seriesis showing on Channel 8 on Tuesdays at 8pm.

“My ideal weekend is whenever I have pockets of free time from work. I was swamped in 2024, but I am also a workaholic, so when I have too many days off, I get anxious.

I love to explore our country. I can still find hidden gems, be it a new cafe, an interesting exhibition or a unique workshop.

For instance, I signed up for a sneaker art jamming session at Artistra Studio with my friends a while back, where we designed and painted our sneakers. It was quite a therapeutic experience.

Being an influencer, my work requires me to use my mobile phone all the time. Everything is on social media. So, during my days off, I do not touch my phone. I shut everything out. I will not post anything that is done in my private time.

I am a homebody, so I try to stay home if I have no work. Just having me-time is a luxury.

I will watch animal documentaries on the National Geographic channel or go to my entertainment room and have a solo karaoke session. My favourite is Calorie (2018) by former Chinese girl group Rocket Girls 101. I love singing quirky, happy songs.

There are two dates that I must make myself free for – the birthdays of my uncle and aunt in April and May. I live with them, yet I cannot spend as much time as I want with them.

My uncle will make hotpot for family gatherings, and he is very particular about celebrating birthdays together. He got angry with me in 2024 when I missed both his and my aunt’s birthdays due to my filming schedule. 

Lesson learnt: I should have put in more effort to ensure I would be free on their birthdays.

I also love playing board games and will go to board-game cafe The Mind Cafe with friends when I am not working or on my birthday. Sadly, I managed to do so only four or five times in 2024. We used to gather about twice a month. We can play through the night. 

I like to play strategy games such as The Resistance: Avalon or Saboteur. I also enjoy games that require some acting skills, so I can ‘cheat’ and beat the rest.”
