See The Light
Jeff Chang
3 stars
Taiwanese singer Jeff Chang's latest album is chockful of sentimental songs.
But instead of the passionate love ballads he is famous for, the new songs are more pensive.
The title track ruminates on life, and The One Who Stays is a comforting, radio-friendly tune about allowing the right person into our lives to heal the pain of the past.
Opening number A Matter Of Love, which is sung in English, is composed by British singer-songwriter and lead singer of pop group Take That Gary Barlow. The words are penned by English lyricist Sir Tim Rice.
Tenderly delivered by Chang, the song sounds fitting on a Broadway or West End stage.
With age and experience, the 54-year-old crooner seems to be moving away from singing about the thrills and stings of romance to reflecting on its place in life.

The Book Of Us: Negentropy - Chaos Swallowed Up In Love
Day6
4 stars
Keyboardist Junhyeok might have left in 2016, but the five remaining members of South Korean pop rock band Day6 have not allowed the departure to cramp their style.
On their seventh mini-album, the quintet closes their The Book Of Us series - which also comprises Gravity (2019), Entropy (2019) and The Demon (2020).
The song You Make Me celebrates the people who help others push ahead of obstacles, while the mid-tempo Everyday We Fight is about battling life's challenges with courage.
The rousing anthem One is bound to be a crowd-pleasing singalong number at live shows, and Above The Clouds remembers the pleasant memories after the death of a loved one.
This work is an uplifting end to the group's album series.
