LOS ANGELES - The miniseries Dopesick is the story of a big pharmaceutical company dishonestly marketing a new painkiller - one that helped create the opioid crisis in the United States and has led to more than a million overdose deaths since the 1990s.
But the misdeeds of Purdue Pharma, its billionaire owners and the government officials who helped approve the drug are so shocking, even the show's star, Michael Keaton, had trouble believing it all really happened.
