American actor Kelsey Grammer, 70, and his wife Kayte Walsh, 46, have welcomed their fourth child together, a son named Christopher.
The star of the TV sitcom Frasier (1993 to 2004) dropped the news on Oct 27, when he was a guest on the Pod Meets World podcast.
“We just had our fourth one, it just became eight kids. It was just three days ago. Christopher’s just joined the family. Pretty cool, yeah, isn’t that lovely,” Grammer said on the show, where he discussed his 2025 memoir Karen: A Brother Remembers, about the 1975 murder of his 18-year-old sister by men who tried to rob the restaurant she worked in.
Grammer’s newborn joins a blended family that includes daughter Faith, 12, and sons Gabriel, 10, and James, eight, whom he shares with Walsh, who is English.
His children from previous relationships include daughter Spencer, 41, with his first wife Doreen Alderman; daughter Greer, 33, with his former girlfriend Barrie Buckner; and daughter Mason, 23, and son Jude, 20, with his third wife Camille Meyer.
Grammer met Walsh on a flight in 2009, while she was working as a Virgin Atlantic flight attendant, and they wed in 2011. It is his fourth marriage.
The Juilliard-trained veteran found fame in 1984, when he began appearing as a guest on the sitcom Cheers (1982 to 1993), playing the pompous but likeable psychiatrist Dr Frasier Crane. The character was planned to appear in six episodes, but was so well received that he became a series regular and stayed until the show ended.
The spin-off sitcom Frasier helped make Crane’s 20-year run across Cheers and Frasier one of the longest for a primetime TV character. In 2023, the character was revived in Frasier, which premiered in 2023 and concluded with its second season in 2024.
For this role, Grammer has received four Emmys and two Golden Globes. He won a third Golden Globe for his performance in the drama series Boss (2011 to 2012).
In a 2024 interview with entertainment publication Variety, he spoke about what fatherhood means to him.
“My children – my young children, older children – the happiest I ever am is if they’re all in the same room together. My work has allowed me to be able to do that. I’ve been given this great experience. It’s painful and challenging and hard and tragic. But boy, it’s a great life. And I want to pass it on to them.”
