SINGAPORE – The mark of a scholar in ancient China was his mastery of the four arts: qin (zither), qi (chess), shu (calligraphy) and hua (painting).

Apt, then, that the latest iteration of the Asian Civilisations Museum’s (ACM) Scholars Gallery – a small section tucked towards the back of the museum’s second floor – is zeroing in on the first of the distinguished quartet.
