In the early days of the compact disc (CD), releases of recordings by The Tallis Scholars, the masters of Renaissance vocal music, were always greatly anticipated.

Consistently top-rated, the recordings on its own Gimell label combined performances of the highest level with excellent recording quality. They were must-haves for music lovers and audiophiles, except that the cost of CDs meant purchases had to be carefully rationed.
