Who: Ms Tan Waln Ching, 42, founder of City Book Room, a bookstore which focuses on Chinese-language books. She also publishes books under City Publishing and recently released a series of Chinese-language books by first-time authors Seng Jing Fei, Phoon Jing Ying, Chua Sok Koon and Tan Keen Mun.

Singapore Writers Festival 2025

, which opens on Nov 7, Ms Tan will speak on a panel with other publishers about promoting Singapore literature globally on Nov 13, 8pm, at The Arts House’ Chamber. There will also be an exhibition that traces the evolution of Singapore publishing from the 1800s until today. Behind The Pages: Evolution Of Publishing In Singapore is on at Level 1 The Arts House from Nov 7 to 29, and will travel to other venues until Feb 27, 2026.
