SINGAPORE – Former Straits Times United States bureau chief Nirmal Ghosh has the dubious distinction of having called the United States presidential election accurately for Mr Donald Trump twice.
In 2016, when many derided Mr Trump’s candidacy – Reuters sent interns to cover his campaign – Ghosh was one of the few who sensed that the brash, upstart billionaire was beating an inexorable path to the White House.
