I have been a victim of at least two "inflated" claims, similar to Mr Jimmy Lauw Thian Chye's ("Why was claim paid out when car was not damaged?"; Nov 16).
My fear is that this is not a problem of just one insurance company but is endemic to the insurance industry as a whole.
Given that the impact is greatest on the victims of such "scams", insurance companies might not have sufficient incentive to try to work out a systemic solution to the problem.
Perhaps we should look overseas to how other countries are combating this problem.
