I was disheartened to read Mr Lawrence Chu Tuck Fai's letter ("The Ugly S'porean abroad"; Aug 30).

There will always be black sheep within every nationality who give their countrymen a bad name overseas.

There needs to be a concerted effort, including by parents, to remind Singaporeans about behaving well overseas and respecting other people's cultures and norms - when in Rome, do as Romans do.
