Security not taken seriously enough at Changi Airport

There is much talk about being alert and more security conscious, but how seriously is all this being taken?

At about 8.30am on April 12, my wife and I noticed a red bag, which appeared to be unattended, near the Kaffe & Toast outlet at the arrival hall of Changi Airport Terminal 2.

We first approached a police officer at the information counter and suggested he investigate.

He instead asked me to get a staff member at the Kaffe & Toast to look into the matter.

Subsequently, we approached a Certis Cisco staff member about the matter. Her response was that she was "just a trainee", and seemed more concerned with taking a call on her cellphone.

It is quite disturbing that our security personnel are either not trained to handle such matters or are not taking security as seriously as they should, especially at such a key installation as the airport.
