Renewing passports a breeze

I received a letter recently advising that my passport will expire in about six months' time and to renew it at the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
As I was due to fly soon, I went to ICA as advised.
The security officers guided me to a long queue at the back of the building to enter the office. At 8am sharp, the queue started moving but when I reached the passport application customer service counter, the queue was surprisingly short.
A staff member told me to pay at the e-lobby and have my photo taken there. Payment for the renewal of the passport at the e-lobby was a breeze and I returned to the customer service counter in about 10 minutes.
I informed the staff member that I needed the passport urgently and she said that she would get it processed for collection earlier than the date given.
I was able to leave ICA at 8.30am and still reach my office in time for work.
The renewal of passports is done once every five years and I must commend ICA for streamlining the process and making it a fast and pleasant experience for users.
I thank ICA for the first-class service.
