The increase in rain shelters for motorcyclists is to be lauded (80 rain shelters for motorcyclists to use on expressways, March 20).

There is also a need to look into what can be done for the many motorcyclists who stop by the side of the roads at the end of tunnels whenever it rains.

This can be commonly seen in tunnels at the Kallang-Paya Lebar and Central Expressways.

Without a lay-by, the motorcyclists who take shelter there are exposing themselves to danger unnecessarily.

Measures must be put in place to address this safety concern.
