Parking of rented bikes in corridor and lift lobby breaches fire safety rules

I am perplexed to learn that an ofo employee had parked two ofo bicycles along the 15th-floor corridor of an HDB block (9 weeks in jail for hurling ofo bike off block of flats; July 1).

The corridor and lift lobby should be free from obstacles for safe evacuation in case of fire.

Bike-sharing companies should educate their staff and bike users on bike parking etiquette in common areas.

I hope the authorities will look into the matter and nip the problem in the bud before more bikes are parked in areas that breach fire safety rules and compromise the safety of flat dwellers.
