It has been reported that 250 companies in Singapore have been placed on the Ministry of Manpower's (MOM) Fair Consideration Framework watch list (250 firms on watch list for unfair employment practices; March 7).
The Fair Consideration Framework watch list, which tracks firms not doing enough to hire and groom Singaporeans, was introduced in 2014 to get companies to look for suitable Singaporeans before hiring foreign professionals.
The MOM should go a step further and name the companies on the list.
Naming and shaming should be used as a deterrent.
