Our national team is encountering a serious problem in the scoring department ("'Good test' ahead of Cup"; Sept 3).
In the last four games the team played (against Vietnam, Albirex Niigata, Cambodia and Bahrain), it lost all four games, scored two goals and conceded 11.
If the national team can't score goals, there will be a high chance of not doing well in the AFF Suzuki Cup.
It seems that the Football Association of Singapore has been applying for promising S-League striker Jordan Webb to obtain Singapore citizenship, but the application has not yet been approved. Can the national team afford to wait?
Other options may need to be considered. Perhaps the team could recall Aleksandar Duric as a short-term measure.
He is well known for his positioning to score, and his fitness is as good as many of our national team players.
He may be our best hope of a realistic chance at the AFF Cup.
