Initiatives to help seniors cope with rising food and drink costs

We thank Mr Francis Cheng for his feedback ("Help seniors cope with higher drink prices", Forum Online; March 2).

A point to note - apart from our Healthier Choice food and beverages, there has been no price change for the kosong (no added sweeteners) variants of our coffee, tea and Milo.

Presently, we do have several initiatives to help the elderly and retirees manage the rising cost of living and enjoy better dining privileges at Foodfare.

Below are examples of the initiatives that they can enjoy at our outlets:

- 12 per cent Pioneer Generation discount on all non-promotional food and beverages for PG cardholders, without the need to hold any Foodfare-issued prepaid cards or be in a Foodfare programme.

- 10 per cent discount on all non-promotional food and beverages for NTUC union members above the age of 55.

We assure Mr Cheng that NTUC Foodfare remains mindful of our social mission and that we will also continue to look into assisting needy groups, including the elderly and retirees, through our social programmes and special discounts.
