Though bus services are improving slightly, more can be done before fares are raised ("Bus fares will be affordable if raised"; Aug 29).

Arrival times need to be narrowed further to shorten the wait.

Scheduled times of arrival need to be more strictly adhered to. The schedule can be seen as a promise of delivery to commuters. Breaking that promise will erode commuter confidence.

Adhering to scheduled times of arrival will inject confidence in commuters, and buses will become a very reliable form of transport, in support of the Government's goal of a car-lite Singapore.
