The City Harvest saga may have reached a final conclusion. But it has raised new questions.
Like many Singaporeans, I was at first surprised and even disappointed to learn that our supposedly iron-clad corruption laws were outdated.
As a result, the main perpetrators in the City Harvest case were given a much reduced sentence.
And with the arrest of Chew Eng Han for his failed attempt to jump bail, we are shocked to learn of yet another out-of-date law: Jumping bail is not an offence in Singapore.
I hope our elected representatives will seek an accounting from the Minister on how many other critical laws are outdated and when they will be updated.
