I am heartened as a citizen to know that the Government is serious about taking Singapore forward with the new team Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has put in place - a succession team comprising new ministers ("PM names Cabinet aimed at leadership succession"; Sept 29).

I concur with Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam that this new team is made up of good men and women.

We should be grateful as a nation that this has been done with great care and careful consideration. In addition, we should be thankful that the younger leaders have the benefit of being mentored by experienced ministers, including PM Lee and the coordinating ministers.

As citizens, we should play our part as proactive citizens - complaining less, doing what we can and working with our leaders in their efforts to make Singapore a better home for all.
