Faulty IUs frustrating for motorists

Barely a week of driving my new sport utility vehicle last month, its in-vehicle unit (IU) stopped working.

A technician at the STA Inspection Centre in Sin Ming rebooted the IU and said "problem solved".

While there, I noticed several other car owners who faced the same problem. One told me his IU was replaced twice last month, and he was back again because of another faulty IU.

Later that evening, my IU stopped working again.

Although new IUs come with several years of warranty, it is frustrating and inconvenient for car owners to have to take time off to fix IUs of poor quality.

I had to twice replace the IU of another car, which I bought in 2009.
