As a senior citizen who travels by bus most of the time, I have often experienced sudden acceleration or deceleration by bus drivers (Making public transport easier for kids, elderly; June 23).
Maybe this is so they can keep up with their schedules.
But this creates a jerking motion that may cause passengers to lose their balance and fall. This is especially hazardous for the elderly.
While I have encountered considerate bus drivers who wait until elderly passengers have settled down before moving off, such drivers are few.
Elderly passengers will be thankful if bus drivers can be instructed to practise cautious acceleration and deceleration.
