Ensure breakdowns don't result in breakdown in communication

I am very disappointed with SMRT that there was a disruption across four lines on April 25 ("Train services along 4 lines disrupted"; April 26).

This is unacceptable for a developed country, and for any group of rail lines running independently of one another.

SMRT needs to improve its communication process during major disruptions.

Although Twitter has become the rail operator's preferred medium of communication with the public during rail disruptions, news of breakdowns on the Circle Line and the Bukit Panjang LRT on the night of April 25 was not forthcoming.

Breakdowns are bad enough, but SMRT ought to ensure that a breakdown in communication does not happen along with the disruption.

Otherwise, it will destroy any remaining shred of confidence left in SMRT.
