I read with concern the article "Life in the dumps" (last Saturday).
Cleaners play a significant role in keeping our neighbourhood spick and span.
Due to the nature of their job, they work almost round the clock and, hence, living close to the neighbourhood they are working in is surely strongly recommended.
The authorities could add a simple living area for the cleaners at the void deck of one of the Housing Board flats in the neighbourhood.
The space required will be minimal, possibly a large room that can sleep up to three cleaners, with a pantry area for simple cooking and a toilet-cum-bathroom.
This ventilated facility can be rented at a reasonable rate to companies which employ cleaners to work in the same neighbourhood.
In this way, the cleaners will be able to work efficiently and effectively as they are now part of the neighbourhood and living together with the residents.
