Consider provisions for a woman president

We may want to consider studying the possibility of tweaking the Constitution to ensure that we have a woman president from time to time ("Finding good men - and women - who can be president"; Sept 18, and "Increase efforts to groom women in politics" by the Association of Women for Action and Research; Sept 19).

Gender equality is as important as racial equality.

Leaders around the world, such as Mrs Indira Gandhi, Mrs Margaret Thatcher, Dr Angela Merkel, Mrs Theresa May and Mrs Hillary Clinton, have shown what women are capable of if given the opportunity.

It is time we ensured women here are given equal opportunity to be represented in the highest office.
