Consider if changes are for the best

With all the infrastructure being erected lately, I have made two observations.

First, the Electronic Parking System is being implemented in my neighbourhood. It seems that these gantries need to be connected to a server room, which requires constant air-conditioning.

Is this truly necessary and the best use of our resources? Why not connect the equipment remotely, in this age of cloud computing?

Second, at the Tampines MRT station, a sign has been put up requesting that all bicycles parked at the double-stacked racks beside the station be removed so that a shelter can be installed.

Where do the authorities expect these cyclists, who use the racks daily, to park, when no alternatives are provided?
