Businesses must treat foreign workers with respect

I have observed, on a number of occasions, how rude and abusive merchants and hawker stall operators can be towards foreign workers, including maids.

They raise their voices at them and speak to them rudely.

These foreign workers, given their contributions to our economy, society and homes, deserve the same respect and treatment as other patrons.

I urge the Ministry of Manpower to hold a courtesy campaign to encourage these outlets to show respect and care to these workers.
