The ruling party's 9.8 percentage point increase in the vote share reflects the people's strong faith and trust in Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's leadership ("PAP wins big with 69.9% of vote"; Sept 12)

Despite its unsuccessful attempt to recapture Aljunied GRC and Hougang SMC, the People's Action Party improved its vote share in these two constituencies, meaning it has very good support there.

This being the case, those who voted for the PAP in these constituencies must not be made to believe that they have to bear the brunt of the difficulties associated with residing in an opposition ward.

There are privileges to living in a PAP-held ward, such as upgraded facilities. In such wards, those who voted for the opposition enjoy the perks of being in a PAP-held ward.

People should be treated fairly, whether they live in a PAP- or opposition-held ward.
