Age bands still needed for planning

It is fine to define the working population as people aged 20 to 64, to be used for the projection of our future social and economic needs ("Don't write off everyone over 65 as unproductive"; Oct 1).

While it is true that there are healthy Singaporeans aged 65 and above performing well in their jobs, they make up a minority.

It is important to use an accurate estimation of "dependent" people for appropriate measures to be taken.
