This Jubilee Year has brought me many sweet memories, especially since I was a volunteer for both the SEA Games and the Asean Para Games this year.
Our Team Singapore athletes have done us proud, with their teamwork, determination and resilience, and have even taught us courage, friendship, passion, unity, ties and kinship.
Our volunteers, with their happy faces and enthusiasm, showed their commitment towards the Games, taking time off their work and studies.
Our Games officials made sure there was fair play among all the competitors.
Our venues met the standards of sports facilities, and we ensured that athletes and officials were well taken care of.
Last but not least, the traffic flow on the roads was smooth, and drivers gave way to Games buses so that team officials and athletes could reach their competition venues on time.
The good wishes and gratitude from the public also gave volunteers and athletes lots of confidence.
We have come far in these 50 years of independence, building our society into a more inclusive one.
Let us write a new chapter of our Singapore Story in the next 50 years as we welcome more excitement and challenges.
