Foreign countries depend on the Ministry of Health's (MOH) updates on the number of Zika cases detected to decide on whether to issue travel advisories to their citizens ("China sets Zika alert for travel to and from Singapore"; last Friday).
The number of cases has risen to more than 300.
However, this is the cumulative figure and represents the total number of cases detected to date.
As many Zika patients have recovered, the actual number of people still with the virus is diminishing.
The MOH should, therefore, report the net number of patients still with the virus daily.
This will give foreign countries a more realistic picture of the Zika situation here.
