Who: Ng Wei Shee, 24, law undergraduate at the National University of Singapore.

My family: I live with my mother, 65, sister and brother-in-law, both 41.

My home: A four-room apartment in Punggol.

My passions: Exploring new places on foot, languages and baking.

I started writing to the Forum page...: Last year, when I wrote about the importance of preserving Chinese dialects.

What I write about: Preserving our culture, the law and the environment, and suggestions for improvements in our community.

Why I write and I read the Forum page because…: The Forum page allows Singaporeans from different walks of life to be heard.

I feel immensely satisfied to say or ask something in the Forum that many people have not thought about or cannot answer.

It is even more meaningful when other Forum writers respond robustly to your opinion - it is like starting a conversation that we need to have. It is a great way to engage with fellow Singaporeans.

My wish for Singapore: I hope that our society will become kinder and more accepting of people from different backgrounds with different beliefs or opinions.

A progressive and truly multicultural society follows no dogma beyond treating every member as equals.
