Who: Wong Yu An, 15, student

My family: I live with my parents, Mr Wong Tien Hua and Madam Lim Hwee Hwee, both 47, my grandparents and my 11-year-old sister, Yu Xin.

My home: A house in Bukit Timah.

My passions: Cycling, running and reading. I like reading mainly non-fiction, such as Nature and National Geographic magazines.

I first started writing to the Forum page in...: 2013, after my Primary School Leaving Examination.

What I write about: Global concerns that will have a significant effect on our nation, such as terrorism and food waste, significant national events, and issues that may affect the general student population.

Why I write: To share my opinions. I also write to practise diplomacy and dealing with sensitive issues in a tactful way.

I read the Forum page because...: I can see different perspectives from Singaporeans from all walks of life, as well as views of foreigners and heads of major organisations.

Being able to appreciate a topic from another person's point of view is important to understanding the bigger picture.

My wish for Singapore: That it will be able to remain a peaceful country with friendly ties with our neighbours, and that it will make use of our people's innovation and creativity to stay ahead.
