Who: Simon Owen Khoo Kim San, 47, an English language tutor and a former Singapore Airlines flight steward and primary school teacher.

My family: Married to Vietnamese national Pham Thi Ngoc Anh, 34, who works as a Vietnamese language teacher in Singapore, with a three-year-old son, Kevin.

My home: A three-room flat in the Punggol Waterway area.

My passions: Fishing, soccer and reading The Straits Times.

I started writing to the Forum page...: In 2008.

What I write about: Social issues such as education, the cost of living and perceived injustices in government policies and practices.

Why I write: To highlight issues which might otherwise not be brought up because those affected may not be able to express accurately their situation or points of view.

An example is foreign wives of Singaporeans who cannot obtain long-term visit passes despite having Singaporean children.

I read the Forum page because...: I want to know the issues that concern the man in the street.

My wish for Singapore: That it will hold firm the ethos and values its founding prime minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, stood and fought for.
