I congratulate The Straits Times for its coverage of the Bukit Batok by-election.
From Nomination Day to walkabouts and the excitement of rally speeches, it has tried its best to be fair and balanced.
It has given the same amount of space to both candidates and has been careful to display a balanced headline for each side. We even see the same sizes for headline fonts and pictures for both sides.
More importantly, things said in the rallies were reported fairly, without favour or prejudice. What more could a candidate (and the people) ask for in a political contest?
It is now time for Bukit Batok residents to make their decision.
May the better man win and may the winner dutifully carry out all promises delivered during the heat of the campaign.
