A number of doctors have been found guilty of professional misconduct and been disciplined by the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) in recent years.
However, the disciplinary actions are not shown in its public register of medical practitioners.
This does not follow what is being done at other organisations. For example, the Council for Estate Agencies tags and publishes its disciplinary actions against errant salesmen on its Public Register of Estate Agents and Salespersons.
It is time the SMC updates its public register to include the disciplinary actions meted out to enable the public to make an informed decision when choosing a doctor.
