Sound barriers a good move

It is commendable that the Government has taken people's concerns about the noise levels from MRT tracks into consideration and has been building sound barriers (Barriers up, noise down for those who live near MRT tracks; Feb 10).

As I have lived near an MRT station, I understand how irritating the noise can be and how it affects people living near them.

The constant noise can affect our eardrums as well as quality of sleep. Furthermore, it might hinder those who want to sell their houses, as prospective buyers may be deterred by the noise.

Hence, building sound barriers will solve these problems faced by residents living near MRT stations and tracks.
