Software glitch at stadium prevented projection of flag

After a decade away, the National Day Parade (NDP) returned to the National Stadium on Aug 9.

The Singapore flag was supposed to be projected onto the roof of the National Stadium at the end of the parade ("Probe into why stadium roof didn't light up with S'pore flag"; Aug 12).

However, this did not happen, as the National Stadium's roof lighting system encountered a software defect.

This software defect had not occurred before and has since been rectified.

Nonetheless, the Singapore Sports Hub and the NDP 2016 Executive Committee are heartened that celebrations went on smoothly.

We thank participants, partner organisations, volunteers and sponsors for making our nation's 51st birthday celebrations at the National Stadium a resounding success.
