Society has a role to play in reskilling workers

Helping vulnerable workers is an issue that requires not just the Government but also the private and public sectors ("Singapore working to avoid deep social divides: PM Lee"; Nov 22).

We should look at how to engage grassroots organisations and voluntary welfare organisations, or even help set up such organisations to identify vulnerable workers.

Many of these workers may need career counselling and personal coaching to help them ascertain relevant training courses.

Employers should be given incentives, especially during these challenging times, to free up their workers to reskill themselves.

Only by building a deep-seated culture of continual improvements can we stay relevant and effective.
